Granite State Games a success for Lakes Region squads

MANCHESTER The action proved fierce for the local Lakes Region athletes, as a horde of high schoolers (over 800 registered in total) competed in the first-ever Granite State Games June 23-28 on the campuses of Southern New Hampshire University and The Derryfield School. The Games are based on the Olympic model, complete with an opening ceremony, a round-robin tournament and championship games according to the organization's web site. It's a Nashua-based 501(c)(3) non-profit with a mission to promote competitive excellence by providing an athletic forum for top athletes to display their talent, ability to work as a team or individual, and their ambition to become a champion....more>
