Defending champions continue impressive run with two playoff wins

GILFORD — The Gilford High School boys' tennis team has been led all season by Grant Workman, and while he once again dominated and had an 8-0 win, it was the number five and six singles players who secured the victory over Kearsarge to send the team to the state championship. The defending Division 3 champion Golden Eagles have been the team to beat for many years now, as they have currently won 83 games in a row and have been constant division champions. On May 26 Gilford, the number one seed, knocked off number four Kearsarge with an 8-1 win....more>

School records fall at Wilderness League Meet

GILFORD — Gilford High School hosted the Wilderness League Championship track meet on May 20, and many of their athletes shined on their home turf, notably senior Marina Baer who shattered her own school record by more than 10 feet in the javelin with a throw of 133 feet, nine inches. The throw by Baer was also a record at the Wilderness Meet. Closest throw behind her was Sarah Shannon of Moultonborough who had a toss of 94 feet, eight inches. Coach Joe Wernig said that setting this record was a huge deal for Baer, and he was very proud of the hard work that she put in and ultimately paid off....more>
