Littleton makes greatest Main Streets list

April 25, 2012
LITTLETON — The May 2012 issue of Travel and Leisure placed Littleton on a list of the 15 greatest main streets in the U.S. The magazine declared Littleton's Main Street both "vibrant" and "self-sufficient."

Thayer's Inn, Chutters, and Just L Modern Antiques were mentioned specifically. The diverse architecture along Main Street was seen as an additional attraction.

Chad Stearns, Executive Director of the Littleton Area Chamber of Commerce, noted that Littleton's virtues create a "best of New England" feel in town. He was "very happy" that Travel and Leisure noted the appeal of Littleton's diverse businesses. The community can work together on "ways to improve Littleton," Stearns said.

Littleton has received other recent positive attention. In November the Boston Globe noted the town's "old-fashioned charm" and "walkable" Main Street. In March Soco magazine ran a story that praised the Beal House Inn and its "very interesting" town.

New England was well represented in Travel and Leisure's main streets list. Both Woodstock, Vt. and Bath, Maine received the honor as well.
