April 19, 2012WOLFEBORO — "Everyone has a seat at the Kingswood Theatre dinner table," said Drama teacher Scott Geissler to the entire Kingswood High School student body, on Monday morning, April 16.
The nearly 50-member cast and crew of the award-winning one-act "Star Crossed Lovers" production assembled on the Kingswood Arts Center stage was a testament to that statement.
The diversity of tasks and expertise involved in the production was highlighted as he called attention to the musicians, singers, sound and light technicians, costume and set designers, woodworkers and managers who worked as a team to deliver an outstanding production. The victory at the state level followed the stellar performance at the regional level.
The talented troupe will represent New Hampshire in the New England Theater Festival at Gilford High School next Thursday, April 26 at 2 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
Geissler thanked the Governor Wentworth Regional School District's administration for elevating the arts to a position right beside that of athletics and spoke of the dedication and discipline demanded of the drama team. "They were here after school many evenings until 6:30 p.m., and closer to the performances, until 7:30 or 8 p.m.," said Geissler with pride.
The drama department pointed to the new banner for the first-ever victory at the state level hung high in the new Kingswood Arts Center and proclaimed that it belonged to the entire school.
The troupe will present one more performance to the public this Friday night, April 20, at 8 p.m., in the Kingswood Art Center to help offset performance costs for the upcoming New England Festival. Tickets are just $3.
