LACONIA — The Laconia Main Street program presented Dancing with the Community Stars Saturday, March 31 at Memorial Middle School, featuring two Gilford Middle School teachers, Amber Greenlaw and Billy McLane, among the contestants.

McLane, a math teacher, and Greenlaw, a health and physical education teacher, represented Frates Creative Art Center.

Greenlaw said she has been dancing at Frates Creative Art Center for 28 years, and they asked her to represent the studio. She said she then turned to her colleague McLane when she needed a dance partner.

Mclane said the event provided a different challenge for him.

"This is the only time I've ever danced like this in a structured routine," laughed McLane. "It's a different challenge from my daily routine."

Greenlaw said she has represented the studio twice before in the Dancing with Community Stars shows.

"I've had a blast doing this," said Greenlaw, thanking the Frates family for the opportunity to again represent the studio.

Other teams featured in the show were Evan Kreitzer from Laconia Middle School student dancing with Robin Barnes of Broadway North; Janice Jenkett of Jazzercise dancing with Robin Barnes of Broadway North; Gudron Stanton of Summit Health dancing with Paul Langley of Starry Night Dance Studio; Myles Chase of MC Cycle dancing with Erin Lovett Sherman of Artsfest; Liana Gilbert of Platinum Salon and Spa dancing with Erica Gilbert of Stages Dance Academy; and Ray Feola of Irwin Marine dancing with Oriana Filiault of Artsfest.

Funds raised from the show go towards general Laconia Main Street beautification projects, signs and Christmas lights.
