Teachers' contract passes on fourth attempt

October 05, 2011
A special vote was held on Tuesday, Oct. 4, that approved the estimated increase of $23,523 for teachers' salaries and benefits over those of the current staffing levels at Alton Central School.

The special warrant article passed, with 270 yes votes casts and 173 no votes cast.

In March, the article that would have established a new Master Agreement for the teachers failed with a tie vote, 404 to 404.

This was fourth attempt at trying to approve a new agreement between the Alton School District and the Alton Teachers' Association.
