Ossipee Corner Fire Precinct seeks new commissioner

July 21, 2011
OSSIPEE— Ossipee Corner Fire Precinct Commissioners Lynne Parker and Robert Short are charged with appointing a third commissioner following George Moynahan's resignation effective June 30.

In an interview with Parker, she said Moynahan and his wife put their home on Browns Ridge Road up for sale and it sold much quicker than they expected. The couple has moved out of the area to be closer to family. Parker said the commissioners regretfully accepted Moynahan's resignation and she is especially grateful for the knowledge and hard work that Moynahan brought to the board. She said Moynahan always held the interest of the taxpayers and the well being of the fire department members at heart. He was instrumental on the committee that designed the new fire engine as well as the land and buildings committees.

Any Ossipee Corner resident interested in serving the remainder of Moynahan's term, until the March 2012 election, is asked to call either the fire station at 539-2407 or Parker at 539-8283. Parker said anyone who expresses an interest will be considered for the position. The right candidate, she said, will be someone who recognizes that accountability to the taxpayers and providing the fire department members with what they need to deliver the best service are of utmost importance.

Parker said it will be no earlier than the August commissioner's meeting that a decision will be made. That meeting is scheduled for Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in learning more about the workings of the commissioners can find their monthly meeting minutes on the town's website at www.ossipee.org.
