WOLFEBORO — Wolfeboro police officers Michael Strauch and Mark Livie responded to a report of suspicious activity at 610 Governor Wentworth Highway (Route 109) on Friday, June 17, around 1:30 p.m. Upon arriving at the home, they discovered a burglary in progress.

Two suspects were arrested: Robert Snow, age 42, on record as an habitual offender, and Bree Leighton, age 29, both of Milton. The two, both with suspended licenses, reported that a third person had driven the car to the property and had fled the scene.

Officer Jim O'Brien and his trained canine, Blek, were called to the scene to initiate a search. Later, upon investigation by Lt. Dean Rondeau at the Carroll County House of Corrections, it was found that there was no third party involved.

Snow, of 40W White Mountain Highway, was charged with felony offenses : driving after being declared an habitual offender and burglary; misdemeanor offenses of criminal trespass, driving after suspension or revocation, theft and an open container violation. He appeared in the District Court for Southern Carroll County and was released on $2,500 personal recognizance bail.

Leighton, whose breath alcohol content was reported to register at .19 (over twice the legal limit) was held in protective custody at the jail and later bailed for $5,000 on personal recognizance. She was charged with felony burglary and misdemeanor criminal trespass, theft and an open container violation.

Both subjects have a July 20 court date. Rondeau stated in a press release that Public Agency reimbursement will be sought for the cost of the Wolfeboro Police Department K9 and handler, as the two were found to be lying about the third party involvement.
