Mt. Washington Golf Course open, Omni has 2-year lease

June 01, 2011
BRETTON WOODS — Operations at the Omni Mount Washington Hotel and Resort will not be affected by the June 22 foreclosure auction of the 900 acres of Crosland properties, according to managing director Larry Magor.

"The Omni Mount Washington Resort has a two-year lease on both golf courses — the 18-hole Mount Washington Course and the nine-hole Mount Pleasant Course," Magor explained in an e-mailed answer to an inquiry. "That could change with new ownership, but we feel that this transaction could bring some promising opportunities for the Resort once these financial matters are put aside.

"This transition will not impact the guest experience at the Resort," he continued. "CNL Lifestyle Properties, a real estate investment trust (REIT) of Orlando, Fla., continues to own the Hotel and the other lodging assets, as well as the Bretton Woods Ski Area, and Omni manages their interests."

"We have pulled the tarps off the greens and tees and both the Mount Washington Course and the Mount Pleasant course look great," Magor said. "This is the best start to the golf season in five years. We opened for public pay last Saturday and have seen a brisk business and 176 rounds played. We are open and looking forward to a great summer."

Magor also included in his e-mail reply that there is a special deal for locals on Wednesday after noon (12 p.m.).

Two can play the Mount Washington Course (18 holes with cart or walk) for $85, valid through the 2011 golf season.

Locals are defined as those who have their primary residence in one of the following counties of New Hampshire (Cos, Carroll, Grafton or Belknap), Maine (Oxford) or Vermont (Essex of Caledonia). Call 603-278-4653 for tee-times.
