Groveton High School top honors recipients chosen

GROVETON — The Faculty and Administration at Groveton High School have announced the valedictorian, salutatorian, and third honors for the graduating class of 2011.

The Valedictorian is Ethan Emerson, the son of Brian and Iris Emerson of Groveton. Ethan will be attending Colby-Sawyer College in New London, majoring in History. Ethan has been a member of Student Council, Youth and Government, has served as National Honor Society President, Academic Tutor and is also a member of NH Jr. Bassmasters. Ethan has been involved in athletics throughout high school as a member of the Varsity soccer, basketball and baseball teams. His outside interests include hunting and fishing.

Salutatorian Jessica McKenzie is the daughter of Richard and Tina McKenzie of Maidstone, Vt. Jessica will be attending The University of Vermont in Burlington, Vt., majoring in Nursing. During her high school career, Jessica has been a member of the National Honor Society, HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) and Student Council. In addition to these activities, Jessica has been a member of the Varsity soccer, basketball and softball teams all four years in Groveton.

Third Honors recipient Kelley Collins is the daughter of Mark and Louise Collins of Groveton. Kelley will be attending New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord, majoring in Business. Kelley has served as Class President, Student Council vice-president, a member of HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), Foreign Language Club and the yearbook staff. She has also been a member of the Varsity soccer, basketball and softball teams during her four years at Groveton High School.
