Barnstead Budget Committee ready to dig into budget

BARNSTEAD — The Barnstead Budget Committee will hold 10 meetings in January and February concerning the 2011 town budget and 2011-2012 school district budget.

The committee will meet on five consecutive Mondays to discuss the town budget. On Jan. 3 the meeting will include public input and will be followed by a work session. On Jan. 10, 17 and 24, the committee will meet for work sessions. There will not be any public input during the work sessions. On Jan. 31, the committee will hold a public hearing on the town budget. Immediately afterward, the committee will vote its recommendations on the 2011 town budget.

The committee will meet on five consecutive Thursdays to discuss the school district budget. On Jan. 6 the meeting will include public input and will be followed by a work session. On Jan. 13, 20 and 27, the committee will meet for work sessions. There will not be any public input during the work sessions. On Feb. 3, the committee will hold a public hearing on the school district budget. Immediately afterward, the committee will vote its recommendations on the 2011-2012 school district budget.

If any petitioned Warrant articles for the town budget that require a recommendation by the budget committee are received after Feb. 1, another public hearing on the warrant article(s) will be held on Thursday, Feb. 3, at 6 p.m. The public hearing on the school district budget will be held immediately after the conclusion of the public hearing on the Warrant articles.

All work sessions and the public hearing will start at 6 p.m. and will be held in the library at the Barnstead Elementary School.
