Weather wreaks havoc on tournaments

December 27, 2010
REGION — The snowstorm that blew through the area on Sunday and Monday caused numerous postponements in the scheduled holiday tournament action.

The Farmington tournament, in which the Kennett basketball teams are participating, was set to kick off on Sunday, but the snowstorm pushed the games back two days.

The Eagle boys opened on Tuesday, Dec. 28, at 2:50 p.m. against Concord Christian, while the girls opened the same day at 4:10 p.m. vs. Epping. Both teams were slated to play on Wednesday, Dec. 29, as well, with the boys taking on Nute at 12:10 p.m. and the girls to be determined. The boys play today (Thursday, Dec. 30) at 6:50 p.m. against Farmington. The girls are to be determined.

The championship games are set for Friday, Dec. 31, with the girls playing at 11:30 a.m. and the boys tipping off at 1 p.m.

The Lakes Region Holiday Tournament, in which the Prospect Mountain and Kingswood hoop teams are participating, was also postponed on Monday.

That tournament was just pushed back a day, with Monday's games moving to Tuesday and Tuesday's to Wednesday. The tournament championships will be held today, Thursday, Dec. 30, with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys at 7:30 p.m.

The Kingswood hockey team was scheduled to play St. Thomas in the Exeter Holiday Tournament Sunday night, but that game was postponed until today, Thursday, Dec. 30, at 5 p.m. at the Rinks at Exeter. The other two games in the tournament (Monday at 8 p.m. and Tuesday at 6 p.m.) were still on as scheduled as of Monday morning.
