JEFFERSON — Santa's Village is drawing lots of families, many with three generations, North of the Notches for its 14th annual Christmastime festival, celebrated for a record-breaking 14 days this year.

This is the first time the theme park has been open in November the weekend before Thanksgiving, and a big crowd came out on Saturday, Nov. 20, and there was a good but smaller turnout on Sunday, Nov. 21.

The park was open the three days following Thanksgiving — Nov. 26, 27, and 28 — and nine days are scheduled in December: six days — 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, and 19 — on the three weekends before Christmas; and three days following Christmas — Tuesday, Dec. 28, Wednesday, Dec. 29, and an all-inclusive 1st annual New Year's Eve "Partybration" from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 31, when Father Time is slated to set the clocks ahead by four hours.

Fireworks will light up the dark sky at an hour when children can enjoy the spectacle.

A cadre of cheerful Santa's Helpers — older folks, stay-at-home moms, college students, and recent college graduates — have joined the year-round staff to serve guests to get on and off the rides, to buy gifts in the shops, to enjoy various attractions, and to secure snacks and beverages.
