Lewis named new police chief in Bristol
November 10, 2010
BRISTOL — The Bristol Board of Selectmen today announced the promotion of former Lieutenant and Interim Police Chief Michael Lewis to the position of Chief of Police, effective immediately.
Lewis has been serving as Interim Police Chief in Bristol since June of this year.
Lewis has been in law enforcement for more than a decade, and has been a member of the Bristol Police Department since 2004. He has an Associates degree in Criminal Justice, and is presently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Public Administration.
"Having Chief Lewis in the interim role for the past few months afforded the board the opportunity to get a feel for how he would run the department," said Chairman Rick Alpers. "We have received positive feedback from the community with regard to the level and quality of service the department now provides. We also took that time to advertise the position and evaluate other potential candidates, but in the end, the board felt that Chief Lewis was the best choice for our town."
Please feel free to stop in at the Police Department and congratulate Chief Lewis on his promotion. He may also be reached by phone at 744-6320, ext. 20.
