WAKEFIELD An Effingham man was seriously injured when his motorcycle and a car collided about 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon on Lovell Lake Road in the area of Walsh Road.

According to Wakefield Police Lt. Mark O'Brien, Kenneth Cost, 56, of Effingham was airlifted to Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, where he remains in intensive care. His passenger, Roberta Pigott, 51, was taken to Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro with serious injuries.

The driver of the car, Patricia Allain, 45, of Maine was taken to Goodall Hospital in Sanford, Maine for treatment of minor injuries.

The field at Paul School was used as the helicopter landing for the DHART helicopter.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
