Candidates toss their hats into candidate pool for state and county elected office

CONCORD — The following people have signed up to run in the Republican primary for state and county elected offices:

Executive Councilor District One: Raymond Burton, (Incumbent) of Bath. There is one seat in council district one. Executive Councilors have two-year terms.

The following people are running for two-year terms in the State Senate:

District One: John Gallus, (Incumbent), of Berlin. There is one seat in senate district one.

District Three: Jeb Bradley, (Incumbent), of Wolfeboro. There is one seat in senate district three.

The following are running for two-year terms in the State House of Representatives:

Carroll District One: Gene Chandler, (Incumbent), of Bartlett; Frank McCarthy, of Conway; Laurie Pettengill, of Bartlett; and Karen Umberger, (Incumbent), of Conway. There are four seats in house district one.

Carroll District Two: Norman Tregenza, of Madison. There is one seat in house district two.

Carroll District Three: David Babson, of Ossipee; Mark McConkey, (Incumbent) of Freedom; and Harry Merrow, of Ossipee. There are three seats in house district three.

District Four: Chris Ahlgren (Incumbent), of Wolfeboro, David Knox, (Incumbent) of Wolfeboro; Betsey Patten, (Incumbent), of Moultonborough, and Steve Schmidt, of Wolfeboro. There are four seats in house district four.

Carroll District Five: Joseph Fleck, (Incumbent), of Wakefield; Dino Scala, (Incumbent) of Wakefield. There are two seats in house district five.

Most of these positions have two-year terms, however County Commission district three carries a four -year term. There is one seat open for all of these positions.

County Treasurer: Jack Widmer, (Incumbent), of Tuftonboro.

County Sheriff: Christopher Conley, (Incumbent), of Wolfeboro.

County Attorney: Thomas Dewhurst III, of Bartlett.

Register of Deeds: Ann Aiton, (Incumbent), of Ossipee.

Register of Probate: Gail Monet, (Incumbent) of Madison.

County Commissioner District One: David Sorensen, (Incumbent), of Eaton.

County Commissioner District Three: Asha Kenney, of Wakefield.

The deadline to file for office was June 11. The state primary will be held on Sept. 14. The Republican primary winners will face the Democrats in the general election on Nov. 2.

Executive Councilor District One: Beth Funicella, of Jackson. There is one seat in council district one. Executive Councilors have two-year terms

The following people are running for two-year terms in the State Senate:

District One: Dorothy Solomon, of Albany. There is one seat in senate district one.

District Three: Beverly Woods, of Wolfeboro.

The following are running for two-year terms in the State House of Representatives:

Carroll District One: Tom Buco, (Incumbent), of Conway; Ed Butler, (Incumbent), of Hart's Location; Cynthia Syndi White, of Conway. There are four seats in house district One.

Carroll District Two: Bob Bridgham, (Incumbent), of Eaton. There is one seat in house district two.

Carroll District Three: Susan Wiley, (Incumbent), of Sandwich. There are three seats in house district three.

Carroll District Four: Louise Graham, of Wolfeboro and John White, of Wolfeboro. There are four seats in house district four.

Most of these county positions have two-year terms, however County Commission district three carries a four-year term. There is one seat open for all of these positions:

County Attorney: Robin Gordon, (Incumbent), of Tamworth; Anthony Mincu, of Wolfeboro.

County Treasurer: Maureen Westrick-Forbes, of Conway.

County Commissioner District Three: Chip Albee, (Incumbent), of Tuftonboro.
