NORTH CONWAY — The Kennett girls' basketball team ended a 10-year drought with a playoff win over the Coe-Brown Bears on Monday, March 1, in North Conway.

The sixth-seeded Eagles and the 11th-seeded Bears played to an even first quarter, with each team putting 12 on the scoreboard, but the Eagles outscored the visitors 21-6 in the second quarter to take a 33-18 lead into the halftime break.

The second half saw the two teams play to an even battle on the scoreboard for the first eight minutes, with the Eagles holding a 45-30 edge after three quarters of play.

The fourth quarter was also evenly matched, with the Bears outscoring the Eagles by one, and at one point closing the gap to 11, but that was as close as they got, as the Eagles pulled away with a couple of big hoops from star guards Allie Wagner and Melissa Frase.

Frase finished with 23 points and Wagner had 15 as the Eagles picked up their first playoff win since 2000.

Kennett will square off with third-seeded Souhegan (16-2), who advanced with a win over Bedford. The game is set for 7 p.m. in Amherst on Thursday, March 4.
