Police investigating Alton Building Inspection and Code Enforcement Office
January 28, 2010
State Police – Troop E confirms an extensive probe into accounting discrepancies pertaining to the Building Inspection and Code Enforcement Office fees collected by employees of the Town of Alton. This investigation comes at the request of the Police Chief and Town Manager to avoid any conflict of interest.
The investigation began in December 2009 and the process is expected to last several months due to the large volume of paper documents and parties involved, which encompasses a several year span.
Once the investigation is complete, prosecutors will then review the case to determine if an individual deemed responsible will be subject to criminal prosecution.
When more information is available, we will be sure to bring it to you.
