Coös County nursing home earns 5-star quality rating

BERLIN — The Coös County Nursing Home in Berlin earned a Five-Star Quality Raging for the second year in a row. "I'm very proud of everyone's efforts to improve the quality of care and quality of life in our facility," said nursing home administrator Jeannette Morneau.
The county commissioners echoed her sentiments and thanked all those employed at the nursing home.
Ms. Morneau also described work that has recently been done on the third-floor dining room to open it up and make it more home-like and less institutional. "It's been a project that has revitalized everyone," she said, "and residents, families, and employees are really happy with it."
A hairdressing "cubby" has recently been created for less than $100 by re-purposing an alcove on the third floor, as recommended by the Quality of Life Committee. "This is not a replacement for our beautician who comes in every week, but, rather, is for touching up hairdos when residents are going out or celebrating a special occasion," Ms. Morneau explained. "An alcove on the second floor will also soon be similarly repurposed."
