TILTON On the strength of a dominating performance from sophomore Jaila Remillard, the Winnisquam Regional High School girls' track and field team excelled at the NHIAA Division III state championship meet this spring. The Bears compiled 38.5 points on the day, good enough for an impressive sixth place showing.

Remillard won two events at the state meet and took second in another, though she was hardly the only Winnisquam athlete to make a name for herself in Meredith. Senior Carissa Archibald broke through and won a state title in the high jump, and several other Bears qualified and placed well on the day. Here's a look at how some of the top Winnisquam athletes fared in the big meets during the 2014 season.

Carissa Archibald The senior closed out an outstanding career by capturing the state championship in the high jump, as she cleared five feet even to claim the top spot... Finished ninth at the Meet of Champions one week later, clearing 4-10... Also ran the 200 meters at the state meet, taking eighth place (28.38 seconds)... Ran a leg on the 4x100 relay at states, also placing eighth... Won the high jump at the Bristol Lions meet with a season-best leap of 5-2.

Hayley deSousa The junior recorded a top 10 finish at the state meet, taking eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 31 feet, 4.75 inches... Also ran a leg on the 4x400 relay team that took seventh place... Was fourth overall in the triple jump at the annual Wilderness League Championship (31-3)... Took seventh in the 400 meters (1:08) and 20th in the 200 (30.70) at the same meet... Also ran on the 4x400 relay team that nabbed fourth position.

Kaylyn Dion The sophomore qualified and competed in the discus at the D-III state meet... Was 13th overall in the event, with a top throw of 75 feet, eight inches... Also ran on the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams at states... Was ninth in the discus at the Wilderness meet (77-5).

Meghan LaBelle The sophomore ran a leg on the 4x100 relay team at states... Was 11th in the 200 meters at the Wilderness League meet (30.10)... Took 24th in the 100 meters (14.90).

Tea Michaloski The sophomore figured into the scoring at the state meet, as she tied for sixth place in the triple jump with a leap of 15-4... Was ninth in the triple jump at the same meet, with a top leap of 30-7.25... Also ran a leg on the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams... Finished fourth in the long jump (14-10.5) and eighth in the triple jump (29-1.5) at the Wilderness meet... Nabbed second place in the long jump at the Bristol Lions (14-9).

Katie Ojikutu The junior ran a leg on the 4x100 relay team at the state meet... Finished 14th in the 200 meters at the Wilderness meet (29.30)... Was 17th in the triple jump (26-2.25) and 22nd in the 100 meters at the event.

Jaila Remillard The sophomore had a season for the ages, as she qualified and competed in three events at the Meet of Champions... Finished seventh in the 100 hurdles (16.01) and 400 meters (1:00.45) while also taking 10th in the long jump (15-3.75) at the MOC... Won two state championships to pace the Bears at the D-III meet... Won the 100 hurdles in 16.45 seconds and the long jump with a leap of 16-6... Was the state runner-up in the 400 (1:01.46)... Also ran legs on the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams to close out a busy day... Won the long jump and 100 hurdles at the Wilderness meet while taking second in the 400.
