FARMINGTON — The Plymouth golf team picked up right where it left off last season, cruising to a sweep of the first match of the season on Thursday, Sept. 10.

The Bobcats made the trip to Farmington Country Club for the match, which was hosted by Prospect Mountain and also featured Belmont and Gilford.

Coach Jeff Park's kids fired a total of 182 to defeat the host Timber Wolves, who were second with a 223. Belmont shot a 234 and Gilford did not record an official team score as the Golden Eagles had just three golfers teeing off. Division III went back to a stroke play scoring system after using the Stableford system the last few years.

Junior Ben Spence had a monster day, leading the way for all golfers with a score of 43 out of the third spot in the lineup to earn the medalist honors.

Zach Puga, playing from the first spot in the lineup, was second overall and second for the Bobcats, finishing with a 45.

The third scorer for the Bobcats was also the third place finisher overall, as Parker Keeney finished with a 46 from the second spot in the lineup.

The final scorer for the Bobcats was Griffin Charland in the fourth spot, as he fired a 48.

Johnny Flaherty finished with a 53 from the fifth spot, Bri Caston fired a 59 from the sixth spot and Justin Collins was the final Bobcat golfer, finishing with a 61 from the seventh spot.

The Bobcats had a pair of matches after deadline this week, hosting at Owl's Nest on Monday and visiting Pheasant Ridge on Wednesday. Plymouth will be back in action at Owl's Nest on Monday, Sept. 21, and will be at Laconia Country Club on Tuesday, Sept. 22, both with 3:30 p.m. scheduled starts.
