January 07, 2013 NORTH CONWAY — It was a tough start to the year for the Plymouth alpine team, as two skiers had to be pulled from the race after a pre-race crash, but the Bobcats still put together some solid results in the opening meet of their season on Jan. 4 at Cranmore Mountain Resort in North Conway.
The teams raced two runs of giant slalom in the morning and returned to the slopes for two runs of slalom in the afternoon.
The Plymouth girls raced to second in both the giant slalom and the slalom, finishing behind only host Kennett. Hanover, Lebanon, Kingswood, John Stark and Laconia were also in attendance for the meet.
In the morning giant slalom, Risa Mosenthal led the Bobcats with a time of 1:03.8, which placed her third overall. Macaela Wright was the second Bobcat scorer, placing sixth overall in a time of 1:04.54.
Maddy Hansen finished third for the Bobcats and eighth overall with a time of 1:04.69 and Rose Shimberg rounded out the scoring with a 19th place finish in a time of 1:09.63.
Mosenthal was again the top Bobcat in the slalom, finishing third overall in 1:12.99, while Wright raced to sixth overall in a time of 1:16.71 to finish second for the Bobcats.
Shimberg was the third scorer, finishing in 1:22.27 for 13th place and Hansen was the final scorer, recovering from a slip to finish 25th in 1:31.42.
The Plymouth boys raced to fifth overall, with Kennett, Hanover, Lebanon and Kingswood finishing in the top four spots.
Hugh Kelly led the way for the Bobcats with his time of 1:05.32 in the giant slalom, placing him 22nd overall. Will Johnstone was the second Bobcat scorer, finishing 23rd in 1:05.34.
Kyle Hodges finished as Plymouth's third scorer in a time of 1:06.24 for 27th place and Nathan Maves-Moore was 30th overall and fourth for Plymouth with a time of 1:06.68.
The Bobcat boys jumped up two spots for the afternoon slalom, as they finished third behind Kennett and Hanover.
Kelly again led the way for the Bobcats, as he finished with a time of 1:13.45 for 13th place. Hodges was the second finisher for coach Dan LeBlanc's team, taking 14th in 1:15.09.
