LANCASTER — The Plymouth 10U softball All-Stars took part in the district tournament in Lancaster last weekend.

Plymouth faced Meredith on Saturday morning. Jenna Flaherty singled to begin the second inning and scored with aggressive base running. Caroline Dodge walked to begin the third inning and scored on a passed ball to bring the score to 5-2 in favor of Meredith.

In the fifth inning, Kacie Johnston, Libby VanDeMoere and Harman Sandhu all got on base with a walk. Riley Flaherty, running for Johnston, and Haley Partridge, running for Sandhu, scored with aggressive base running as did VanDeMoere. All three scored on passed balls to bring the score to 6-5 in favor of Meredith.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Emily Boyd was hit by pitch, Flaherty walked and both stole the next base. Kelsey Johnston bunted in front of home plate and with an error on the throw to first, she was safe on first, and both Boyd and Flaherty scored to give Plymouth the 7-6 win.

Kacie Johnston struck out 11 batters during the game, Plymouth's first win over Meredith this season.

The team's next game on Saturday was against AVS out of Littleton.

Plymouth came out in the first inning, scoring four runs to three for AVS.

Plymouth was up 6-5 heading to the fourth, but with big hits from Flaherty and Kacie Johnston and good base running from Apple Kunz, Emma Tryder and Grace Comeau, Plymouth reached 12 runs by the end of the sixth, beating AVS 12-8.

These two wins allowed Plymouth a bye through the first round of the playoffs on Sunday. They faced North Country for the semifinals on Sunday. Good fielding by Boyd, Comeau, Dodge and Kacie Johnston kept the score low through the bottom of the second but Plymouth was unable to get their bats alive and North Country led 2-0 through three.

In the fourth, Kelsey Johnston was able to get onto base and score with aggressive base running to get Plymouth on the board. Kacie Johnston hit a double and Flaherty a single, however Plymouth was unable to get those runners across the plate. Fly balls to Kacie Johnston and Kelsey Johnston ended the top of the sixth inning with a score 9-1 North Country. Plymouth was able to get Tryder, VanDeMoere and Kunz on the base path, but once again North Country's defense held strong. North Country won the game 9- 1.

The Plymouth 10U All Star softball roster consisted of Emily Boyd, Kacie Johnston, Jenna Flaherty, Riley Flaherty, Caroline Dodge, Emma Tryder, Grace Comeau, Kelsey Johnston, Libby VanDeMoere, Apple Kunz, Harman Sandhu and Haley Partridge. The team was coached by Doug Johnston, Ross Johnston and Aaron Comeau.

Overall, Plymouth's All Star season record was 10-6-1.
