March 03, 2021REGION – A number of local elections have some contested races while a number of incumbents are running uncontested for reelection.
Election day in Meredith and Center harbor is on Tuesday, March 9 while Moultonborough and Sandwich have rescheduled their elections for a later date going with a governor's emergency order. Moultonborough voters will take to the polls on May 11 and Sandwich will vote on April 13.
In Meredith, three people are seeking two open seats on the board of selectmen: Michael Laurent, Lynn Leighton, and incumbent Jeanie Forrester.
The rest are uncontested. Four people are running for four open seats for library trustees: Vivien Mitchell is running along with incumbents Ann Butler, Paul Eldridge, and Jonathan James.
No one is listed as a candidate for trustee of the trust funds and that position is open for write-in candidates.
In Moultonborough three people are running for two open seats as selectman for a three-year term. Incumbent Jean Beadle is running against Shari Colby and Chris Shipp.
Two candidates are seeking one open position for selectman for a two-year term: current board chair Kevin Quinlan and Susan Price.
For supervisor of the checklist, two people are seeking one one-year term: Barbara Koehler and Kathleen Remson.
The rest of the offices are uncontested.
Julia Berry Marchand is running for town clerk. Nancy Goss is seeking the position of town treasurer. Paul Daisy is seeking another term as trustee of the trust funds. Peter Olsen and Sherry Wakefield are seeking new three-year terms as library trustees. Sandra Kelly is running for reelection on the planning board. For the zoning board, Robert St. Peter is running for another term along with Sean Poloian.
All races are uncontested in Center Harbor. Richard Drenkhan is seeking another term as selectman. Diane Drenkhan is running again for trustee of the trust funds. Karen Ponton is seeking another three-year term as library trustee.
For the Inter-Lakes School District, two candidates are running for one seat as representative from Meredith. Jared Gumpert is running against incumbent Lisa Merrill.
The rest of the offices are uncontested. Craig Baker is seeking another term as representative from Center Harbor.
No one has filed for School District Moderator and hat position is open for write-in candidates.
All offices for the Moultonborough School District are uncontested. Kathleen Garry is seeking reelection as school board member. Paul Punturieri is running for another term as school district moderator. Dylan Oliver is running for school district clerk. Nancy Goss is running again for school district treasurer.
A list of candidates rom Sandwich was pending as of press time, though the town's election has been postponed to April 13.
