PITTSBURG In the final tune-up before the state championship, the Moultonborough Academy cross country teams performed quite well up north on Friday.

Both Panther teams captured titles, while Tyler McLaughlin and Sare Campbell also won individual crowns to lead Moultonborough at the Granite State Conference championship meet hosted by Pittsburg High School.

McLaughlin set a new course record with a time of 17 minutes, 48 seconds, to grab first overall in the boys' race, while Dylan McLaughlin took home third place overall in 18:13. Jack Fogarty also earned a top 10 finish for MA in ninth place (19:55), followed by Seamus Gleeson (16th, 20:43), Alex Bassett (23rd, 21:27), and Evan McKenna (30th, 22:25). McKenna's performance was the margin of victory for the boys team win, as he beat Derryfield's sixth place runner to break the tie score.

"This is the first time, at least since I have been coaching, that both teams have won at the same event," said MA head coach John Eisner.

The girls' team won the championship for the third year in a row, and they now turn their sights to a strong showing at Saturday's NHIAA Division III state championship at Derryfield Park in Manchester. Campbell outclassed the field in Pittsbug with a time of 21:52, besting the next-fastest runner by 43 seconds.

Kelsey Mako was third overall for MA in 23:37, while Erin Hurley (sixth, 24:04) and Ella Morse (eighth, 24:27) also earned top 10 finishes. Lauren Hurley was 15th overall in 26:17, followed by Rachel Smith (21st, 27:31) and Abby Fogarty (33rd, 31:37).
