WOLFEBORO — At the polls on March 11 the vote for Article 7, the Reduced Scope Renovations of Wolfeboro Town Hall, was approved on a vote of 1,080-646, receiving 62.57 percent of the votes cast more than the 60 percent required for an appropriation requiring a bond.

That result was challenged this past Monday, March 17, when a petition signed by 11 voters was submitted by one of the signers, Mike Hammond, to Town Clerk Pat Waterman requesting a recount.

To get the approval vote below 60 percent and thus defeat the article, 45 votes would have to change from yes to no during the recount. Following the last vote on Town Hall renovations in 2011 the Friends of Wolfeboro Town Hall requested a recount. That recount increased the no votes from 728 to 744 a difference of 16 votes; the yes votes decreased from 1,044 to 1,042.

The recount will take place this Saturday, March 22, beginning at 8 a.m. at the Town Hall meeting room
