WOLFEBORO — The Kingswood golf team seems to be picking up right where it left off at the end of the regular season last year.

The Knights picked up five wins in the first week of the season, sweeping matches at North Conway Country Club and The Oaks.

On Tuesday, Aug. 28, the Eagles traveled to North Conway for a meet hosted by Kennett, opening the season with action against Coe-Brown, Plymouth and the host Eagles.

The top two in the Knights' lineup were the medalists for the day, as CJ Sirrell and Andrew McCall both fired 38s for the day, beating out Plymouth's Gavin Brickley by one stroke for the honors.

Also notching a great day on the scorecard was Scott Jenckes, playing out of the seventh hole for the Knights. Jenckes shot a 41 to finish as the third scorer for the Knights.

Nick Eldridge in the fifth hole and Sawyer Tremblay in the third hole both fired 45s for the afternoon, rounding out the scoring for the Kingswood boys.

Lucas Bonenfant fired a 46 out of the fourth spot in the lineup and Liz Nelson had a strong day, shooting a 47 from the eighth spot in the Kingswood ladder.

All told, Kingswood shot a 207 to sweep the match, besting Kennett's 221, Plymouth's 226 and Coe-Brown's 252.

The Knights then made a trip to The Oaks in Somersworth for a meet hosted by the Oyster River Bobcats on Thursday, Aug. 30.

The Knights continued their strong play, firing a 219 overall to take first place, with the host Bobcats finishing at 224 and Merrimack Valley shooting a 271 to round out the field.

The Knights will be in action today, Sept. 6, when they host their first match of the season at Kingswood Golf Club at 3:30 p.m. On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the team will be at White Mountain Country Club in Ashland for a match hosted by Plymouth at 3:30 p.m. and on Thursday, Sept. 13, the Knights will be at home again at Kingswood Golf Club, again teeing off at 3:30 p.m.
