LANCASTER — Two local photographers have teamed up to provide the community far and wide a wedding photography service under the Northern Lights Studio name. Well known photographers Bill Rutherford and Stephanie Dupuis each own their own separate businesses however decided that a partnership would be beneficial in terms of wedding photography.

When asked what sparked the idea, Rutherford explained, "After doing weddings individually, we saw the benefit both to our customers and to us of working together as a team. Having two photographers allows us to have better coverage of all the details that happen during a wedding. For example one photographer can be with the bride and one with the groom as they're getting ready. While one photographer is capturing the first kiss the other can be photographing the parent's reaction."

Dupuis has been photographing newborns, children, high school seniors and families for the past seven years, in addition she has photographed several weddings. Dupuis' studio is located right in Lancaster.

Rutherford is the owner of NorthWoods Manufacturing in Lancaster. When he's not busy running that successful business, he can be seen behind the lens. Rutherford, who specializes in engagements and weddings has a passion for the art and is rewarded by providing couples with beautiful photographs.

With fancy cell phones and filters one may wonder if the need for a professional photographer is falling by the wayside. Rutherford and Dupuis are proof that hiring a professional is well worth the money.

"It's amazing how many couples say they hired a family member or friend with a camera and regret it now because the pictures aren't what they hoped they would be. A professional photographer has the training and experience to anticipate special moments during a wedding and will be ready to capture them," said Dupuis.

She went on to say, "In addition a professional is used to working with the challenging lighting that often exists in churches and venues. When you hire a professional they always have back up equipment in case something were to fail."

The Northern Lights Studio is located on Main Street in Lancaster above the Polish Princess Bakery.

"With both of us seeing the need in town for a full service photography studio, we plan to combine our strengths to offer the local community one place for all their photography needs," explained Rutherford. "Photographs are important for capturing all of life's milestones; your engagement, your wedding, a newborn baby, and your family as it grows."

The duo plans to maintain both Northern Lights Studio and Stephanie Dupuis Photography as sister companies working together to provide the 'best possible experience' to their customers.

Rutherford and Dupuis each have different strengths they bring to the table allowing them to easily rise to any challenge that comes their way.
