LANCASTER — A tragic accident took the life of a woman in Lancaster on the afternoon of July 31.

At roughly 2 p.m., Lancaster Police rushed to a report of an accident on Route 3 near Country Village Road.

According to reports, a 1997 Jeep Wrangler driven by 37 year old Andoni Koxarakis of Lancaster was traveling southbound when it collided with the wheelchair of 76 year old Pauline Clark. Clark was in the process of crossing the street on a designated crosswalk. She was transported to Weeks Medical Center, where she later passed away. Koxarakis and the two juveniles in his vehicle were uninjured.

Route 3 was closed for four hours while emergency personnel worked on scene. The New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction unit responded on scene and the investigation into the accident began. Assisting local police was the New Hampshire State Police Troop F and G along with the Northumberland Police Department, New Hampshire Fish and Game, the Lancaster Fire Department, Lancaster EMS and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.

This accident is still under investigation; however, preliminary reports determined that neither speed nor impairment appear to have caused the accident. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Trooper Daniel Quartulli at 223-8993 or e-mail him at daniel.quartulli@dos.nh.gov.
