February 06, 2013 WEST STEWARTSTOWN — Coös County recently received the remaining balance of the 2013 Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) from Brookfield Power, the 75-percent-owner of the 33-turbine 99-megawatt Granite Reliable Power (GRP) wind farm in Millsfield and Dixville, both Unincorporated Places, according to county administrator Jennifer Fish.
"On Thursday morning, the day before the Feb. 1 deadline, I received notification of a wire transfer into the County's account of $245,825," Fish said in a prepared statement. Brookfield had already paid $295,000 in Dec. 2012, but claimed it would reduce its full PILOT since ISO-New England had not allowed it to transmit all the electricity that it could have generated.
Freshet Wind Energy, LLC, which shares a rural office building with Wagner Forest Management in Lyme, owns the remaining 25 percent of the wind farm.
At Monday morning's county delegation meeting in Lancaster, Fish reported that Brookfield's representatives would like to meet with the county commissioners
