Lancaster native accepts top post at Omni Mount Washington Hotel

October 31, 2012
BRETTON WOODS — A Lancaster native who graduated from White Mountains Regional High School 40 years ago is returning to the North Country to take a key position in the state's hospitality industry.

Stephen Hilliard, a 1972 graduate of WMRHS in Whitefield, is now Managing Director at the Omni Mount Washington Resort.

Larry Magor, who now holds the top slot, and his wife Zorina are heading to Dallas, Texas, where he will head up the 1,001-guest-room-and-suite Omni Dallas Hotel near the Dallas Convention Center.

Hilliard has just left his position as senior vice president, operations, of the St. Joe Company in WaterSound, Fla., where he has been responsible for hospitality operations, information services, and corporate communications, according to its website. "Previously, Hilliard served as vice president, Resort and Club Operations, providing strategic direction and oversight for the company's lodging, golf, food and beverage, beach club and marina operations.

"Prior to joining St. Joe in 2005, Hilliard's career encompassed single-entity and multi-unit management of full-service hotels, resort vacation rentals, timeshare, fractional and private residence club projects and recreational amenities in resort communities."

Listed on the New York Stock Exchange, The St. Joe Company is one of Florida's largest real estate development companies and northwest Florida's largest private landowner. It is primarily engaged in real estate development and sales and also has significant interests in timber.

Omni Hotels & Resorts, in contrast, is a privately held, international luxury hotel company based in Irving, Texas.

Omni manages the Omni Mount Washington Hotel for its owner CNL Lifestyle Properties, Inc.

On Sept. 6, CNL and Omni extended their partnership agreement, which first started on Sept. 1, 2009, for another 15 years. At that time, Omni president Mike Deitemeyer said in a prepared statement, "The partnership between Omni and CNL has been extremely successful, achieving our mutual goal to elevate the guest experience through a multifaceted three-year transformation. With this renewed agreement, we will continue property and resort expansion to solidify Bretton Woods as one of the top destinations in New England. In addition, the close relationships the resort has forged with local and state organizations reflects Omni's brand-wide commitment to each of our hotels' respective communities." CNL Lifestyle Properties, Inc., formerly CNL Income Properties, Inc., is a real estate investment trust (REIT) headquartered in Orlando, Fla., that owns a portfolio of 116 properties in the U. S. in the "lifestyle" sector, including ski, mountain, golf and other attractions.
