School board to consider reopening options

July 30, 2020
WOLFEBORO — The reopening of school is a subject fraught with tension. There is no one option that will please everyone, but a decision has to be made to put the wheels in motion for fall planning. The Governor Wentworth Regional School District's board will be holding an in person meeting at the Kingswood Arts Center on Monday, Aug. 3, at 7 p.m. to attempt to do just that. Public Input is welcome.

Covid-19 protocols will be in place for those who wish to attend the meeting. Otherwise, residents within reach of Wolfeboro Community Television will be able to watch the meeting in progress on television; those in the further reaches of the district will have access to the meeting soon after via You Tube.

Superintendent Kathy Cuddy-Egbert says a PowerPoint presentation will take board members and viewers through the various options under consideration and the mitigating factors that go along with each possibility. The findings of the task force subcommittees representing Technology, Health and Safety Management, the Physical Plant, Teaching and Learning, and Mental Health/Social Emotional Considerations, and Transportation and Food Service comprise a 50 plus page report. Copies will be available at the meeting.

Whether the board will be able to make a final decision that evening remains to be seen.
