May 28, 2020
OSSIPEE — On Wednesday, May 20 at 4:12 p.m., Center Ossipee Fire Department Lt. Martino was driving home from his day shift at the firehouse when he spotted a fire on the front porch of a residential home at 199 Moultonville Rd.

Martino quickly retrieved his portable radio and made a request for fire companies to respond to his location. Upon arrival of Engine 3 under the command of Captain Quigley, companies made an aggressive attack on the main body of fire, while another crew made a primary search for victims.

One elderly victim was located and assisted out a rear door to the care of EMS. Upon receipt of the alarm, Chief Cullen asked for a first alarm, which was later cancelled after the first due engine had knocked down the fire and found no extension into the main structure. The fire was contained in one hour and overhaul completed. Tanker 5 & Engine 2 assisted the on scene companies. A total of 10 personnel worked on the scene. The cause of the fire was determined to be improper disposal of smoking materials.

No injuries were sustained as a result of this fire, which caused an estimated $5,000 in property damage.

Assisting Center Ossipee Fire on scene or with station coverage were: Ossipee Police Department, Action Ambulance with two ambulances & West Ossipee Fire Tower 1.
