Kennett wraps up spring sports season

NORTH CONWAY — The spring sports season came to a close at Kennett on Tuesday, June 13, as Athletic Director Neal Weaver welcomed athletes, coaches, family and friends to the spring sports awards ceremony in Loynd Auditorium.

After Weaver offered a brief welcome, a video of images from the spring sports season put together by student Mackenzie Murphy was shown and then the major awards were presented to the large group.

Coach Josh McAllister was up first for the baseball team and he had a pair of awards to present. He presented the Jack Burns Memorial Award to Aaron Lamar and then presented the David "Doc" Walker 10th Player Award to Riley Fletcher.

Softball coach Peter Ames was up next and he presented the Softball Award to seniors Morgan Colvard and Kaitlyn Janos.

Boys' tennis coach Joe Murphy presented next and handed the Coaches Award for boys' tennis to Willie Alber.

Coach Jacques Couture had two awards to present for the girls' tennis team. The Sportsmanship Award was presented to Jasmine Schmidt and the Coaches Award was given to Olivia Couture.

For the boys' lacrosse team, Dennis Morgan was presented the Lacrosse Award by coach Alec Frankel.

This year marked Kennett's first year with a girls' lacrosse program and the Eagles competed at the JV level. Coach Cassandra Johansen presented the Eagles Award to Emily Cormier.

The final coach to take the microphone was track coach Bernie Livingston, who had a pair of awards to present. The Track and Field Award was presented to seniors Jonathan Caputo, Noah Dubois, Zoe McKinney and India Drummond. The Don Trimble Award was presented to Noah Lautenschlager, Nick Whitley, Selena Gauthier and Chloe VanDyne.

Weaver also presented the NHIAA Three-Sport Athlete Awards, which are given to athletes who competed in a sport all three seasons of all four years of their high school careers. The winners were Tanner Brown, Caputo, Will Davison, Cain Drouin, Drummond, Matteo Lentini, McKinney, Michael Welch and Whitley.

Teams then split up into individual teams for team awards.

Weaver announced that the fall sports preseason meetings are tentatively scheduled for Aug. 7 at 5:30 p.m.
