NORTH CONWAY — Something had to give when the Kennett and Plymouth girls' tennis teams met in North Conway on Tuesday, May 6.

The Bobcats and Eagles both entered the doubleheader match without a win, so one way or another, someone was coming out with their first win.

As it turned out, it was the Eagles coming away with both wins on the afternoon, picking up 5-1 wins in both of the matches to sweep the Bobcats.

With the wind making things chilly and two matches necessary on the day, the teams just played the singles matches in both games.

In the first game, DeGrasse Schrader got the Eagles off to a quick start, as she defeated Savannah Bailey of Plymouth by an 8-0 score at number six.

Kennett's Olivia Couture was the next winner, as she defeated Plymouth's Jill Hester by an 8-2 score at number five.

Plymouth's lone win of the first match came in the top spot in the lineup, where Libby Schwaner defeated Erika Szekely of Kennett by an 8-4 score.

Kennett's Anna Mays won by an 8-4 decision at number two over Plymouth's Samantha Tedeschi.

Isabelle Doucette of Kennett also won by an 8-4 score in the third spot over Plymouth's Jess Ogden.

Emma Niiler won by an 8-2 score for Kennett in the fourth spot, defeating Plymouth's Taylor Moll.

Once the first match had been decided, the teams returned to the court for the second match.

The lone win for Plymouth came at number two, where Tedeschi defeated Mays by an 8-6 score, the final match of the day.

Szekely defeated Schwaner at number one by an 8-1 score, while Doucette beat Ogden by an 8-0 score in the third spot.

In the four through six slots, the scores came in at 8-3 for all three matches. Niiler defeated Moll at number four, Couture defeated Hester at number five and Schrader defeated Bailey at number six, rounding out the 5-1 score for the second match.

The Eagles opened the week with a 7-2 loss to Carroll County rival Kingswood on Monday, May 5.

The Eagles will be back in action on Friday, May 16, at Pembroke, will be at Berlin on Tuesday, May 20, and will finish with a home match against Bishop Brady on Wednesday, May 21, with all matches at 4 p.m.

The Bobcats opened the week with a 6-3 loss against Lebanon on Monday, May 5, and fell to Goffstown 8-1 on Friday, May 9.

The Bobcats will wrap up their season on Monday, May 18, at Lebanon at 4:30 p.m.
