NORTH CONWAY — The fall sports season is just around the corner at Kennett High School.

The football team is the first team to practice. Equipment will be handed out on Aug. 6 at 4 p.m. and there will be a parent meeting at 6 p.m. on Aug. 6. Practices begin on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 7:30 a.m. Coach Mike Holderman can be reached at 356-4343, ext. 4516.

Impact testing will once again take place for fall athletes. Any freshmen or junior football player or any football player who hasn't been tested, will meet on Aug. 6 at 4 p.m. in the gym.

All juniors and any high school athlete who has not been tested and wishes to play a fall sport will be tested Aug. 10 at 7 a.m., while freshmen wishing to play a fall sport will be tested at 10:30 a.m. in the gym.

The Kennett High School physical policy should also be noted. "Kennett High/Middle School is continuing with its impact testing program for all athletes during the 2012 school year. Students need to complete a computer base test before starting a sport at Kennett. A pre-participation physical exam for competitive interscholastic sports will be performed within one year of entry into middle school and within one year on entry into senior high school, and every other year thereafter. A more recent appraisal of the child's health may be required if deemed necessary, requested by either the school nurse or the athletic director."

At the middle school, all students intending to participate in a fall sport must have proof of a physical examination on file at the school or bring one to Athletic Coordinator Gredel Shaw before participating.

There will be a parent and athlete sign-up for all students wishing to participate in a middle school sport this fall on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 6:30 p.m. in the middle school gym. Sports offered this fall include football, cross country, field hockey, and soccer (boys and girls).

The Kennett athletic department is also pleased to announce an easy and free way to be notified of game changes. Visit digitalsports.com and sign up for e-mail notifications of specific teams throughout the year.
