Northwoods Casino continues mission of assisting area non-profits

July 11, 2019
BERLIN — Northwoods Casino, LLC, a licensed charitable gaming facility, is pleased to share that it has provided just under $60,0000 in financial assistance to a number of New Hampshire charities since opening its doors on May 24 of last year. In addition. the employees at Northwoods donate 10 percent of their weekly tips to the non-profit organization of the week and donations are collected at the casino or given directly to the charitable organization via the casino's Web site (www.northwoodscasinollc.org).

Conducting business at 155 Emery St., Berlin, Northwoods Casino is a fun, small-town poker room that welcomes people of all skill and knowledge levels. There are folks who come in that have never touched a playing card in their lives; they just want to help support a charitable cause. There are others who have participated in games all over the country and are looking to see what Northwoods has to offer. Either way, that's okay. The facility offers daily Texas Hold-em tournaments, table games and roulette. The goal is not to grow into something bigger than life or to take advantage of anyone, it's to generate revenue for area non-profits; some are really struggling and this is a fun way to give them a little jump. At the same time, Northwoods Casino provides employment opportunities in the local area, an economic boost to the community, financial support to the arts center and a means of entertainment that is not going to break your bank. The wagers (maximum $10) are regulated by the New Hampshire Lottery Commission/Racing & Charitable Gaming Division, the same organization that regulates the Bingo games that are so popular in town. Northwoods Casino is temporarily renting space from the arts center at St. Kieran's and hopes that the arrangement will generate publicity for the arts in the North Country as well as infuse the center with financial support. The lease agreement has been instrumental in assisting the arts center with its mission of bringing high-quality artists to the area and preserving the historical St. Kieran building (www.stkieranarts.org).
