The arts blossom in Berlin

April 17, 2019
BERLIN — Arts and Culture may well be the most undervalued economic engine in the North Country. Aside from the truism that beauty is its own excuse for being, the work of musicians, painters, story tellers and craftspeople, adds to a city's appeal and enriches the experience of those who live and play there. Art and Culture shine a spotlight on the soul of a city. These things encourage a deeper level of engagement, and a stronger connection to our region.

Berlin is teeming with opportunity, both for those who want to build a small business – and for those who want to be a part of a blossoming art scene. The latest Art and culture offering will be found at Tree City Arts, located at 112 Pleasant St. in Berlin. This new venue will be home to a retail sales gallery, studio spaces, music, dance, poetry, and events. Describing themselves as 'a grassroots organization formed to enrich the community by promoting public involvement in the arts while connecting creative people with each other,' the board of this newly formed venture includes published writers, working artists, craftspeople, and business people. It's a great combination, art is good for business.

There are two events planned so far at Tree City Arts, and everyone is welcome to attend. On Saturday, May 18, the venue will host a 'meet and greet' from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be an opportunity for artists, makers, musicians, dancers, and writers to showcase their works and meet other creatives. A similar event is planned for June 1. Attendees will be able to learn about class opportunities and learn how they may be able to market their work.
