Police apprehend armed man following standoff

BERLIN — A Berlin man was apprehended after a stand-off took place on Norway Street on Saturday afternoon. The man had a gun and shots were fired.

Citizens in the Norwegian Village were concerned after police barricaded off certain parts of the area and were seen with weapons drawn.

An awareness grew on social media, and news of a gunman quickly spread. Police advised people who live in the area who live in the vicinity to leave the area until the incident was under control.

On Saturday, Jan. 5, a 911 was made stating that a single male occupant was in a Norway Street apartment with a gun and that shots were fired.

At about 3:50 p.m., the Berlin police responded to 107 Norway, and the street was barricaded and a perimeter was set up.

Berlin police was assisted by Gorham police and New Hampshire state police.

In a release, police stated that after a brief standoff, a subject was taken into custody without further incident.

The subject is known as Adam Brooks, 29, of Berlin.

Brooks was charged with three counts of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon and one count of simple assault.

Brooks is currently being held at the Cos County House of Corrections until his arraignment scheduled for Monday, Jan. 14, at Cos County Superior Court.
