Berlin and Gorham race in Finale in the Valley

WATERVILLE VALLEY The Berlin and Gorham cross country boys and girls raced in a 5k race on Saturday for the Finale in the Valley at Plymouth Regional High School.

As a team, the Berlin boys placed 10th.

As a whole, there were 14 teams that competed with Kearsarge and Kingswood coming on top for the boys while in the girls' race, Kennett placed first and Kearsarge finished in second place.

There were 107 runners in the boys' race and Gorham's Rob Morehouse placed 23rd, finishing at 18:45. Berlin's Samuel Stiles was back-to-back with Morehouse and placed 24th, finishing at 18:56.

For Berlin, Ben Bergeron placed 31st with a time of 19:11, Calvin Rutiger placed 57th with a time of 20:27, Kolbe Delafontaine placed 73rd with a time of 21:26 and Joseph Young placed 79th with a time of 21:29 to round out the scoring for the Mountaineers.

Ian Laroche placed 86th with a time of 21:43 and Thomas Cole placed 104th with a time of 23:08.

For Gorham boys following Morehouse, Max Sjostrom placed 61st, finishing at 20:33. Gorham only had two runners so they couldn't qualify as a team.

There were 88 runners for the girls' race. Berlin only had two runners. Danielle Couture placed 41st, finishing in 25:10 and Grace Clorite placed 79th, finishing in 29:54.

Gorham also only had two runners. Amira Robertson placed 65th with a time of 27:27 and Anna Roberge placed 69th finishing in 27:56.

The Finale in the Valley is in its fourth year and brings together the cross country teams from the Lakes Region and north. Generous sponsorships allow the race to be run with no entrance fee for teams to compete.
