Second Annual Gorham ArtWalk expands to Main Street

July 09, 2014
GORHAM The Gorham ArtWalk was so successful last year that it has been expanded this year, just its second year, from exclusively on Exchange Street to include Main Street, all the way down to Northeast Snowmobile and ATV Rental.

This year, as it was the case last year, the ArtWalk will be held twice, next Tuesday, July 15, and Tuesday, August 12, from 5-8 p.m. The ArtWalk was moved from Wednesdays to Tuesdays to coincide with the concerts on the Common.

Delta Knights, a classic rock and oldies group, will be playing July 15, 6:30-8:30 p.m. On August 12, the Houston Bernard Band, a country music group, will be playing. That concert will last for three hours and will include a community barbecue catered by Big Scoop.

There will also be music up and down Main Street. Randy Messineo will perform in the small park on the corner of Main and Exchange Streets. Four acoustic guitarists will be performing along different sections of Main Street. Titleholders from the Miss NH Scholarship Program will be performing their talents.

New this year is a wine tasting. There will be a selection of red and white wines to sample and each wine sample will be served with a food pairing provided by Saalt Pub/Libby's Bistro. Tickets are $15 for four wine samples with pairings. Tickets are available in advance at the Androscoggin Valley Chamber of Commerce office in Berlin and at SAalt Pub/Libby's Bistro in Gorham. Wine by the glass and additional food pairings will also be available.

Most of the art will be concentrated on Exchange St. Visitors will be able to watch the participating artists demonstrate their skills and will also be able to purchase art directly from the artists.

Artists participating include: Ernest Demers, artist; Gail Scott, photographer; Will O'Brien, artist; Sarah Glines, Mt. Crescent Crafters; Robin Henne, Wandering Woolies; Wendy Mayerson, quilting; Chester Annis, photographer; Paul Robitaille, photographer; Lucille Burdick, paintings; Carol Walker, dolls and doll clothes; Crescent Creations, baby bibs, potholders, jewelry and more.

Andre Belanger of Studio Works will be painting in the garden at Libby's Bistro. Andre works in the mediums of wood and stone carvings; clay; and oil, acrylic, watercolors and pastels painting. He designed the New Hampshire Medal of Honor and the New Hampshire Profile Award.

Katsko Zintchenko will be giving garden tours and serving Rhubarb Tea at the Congregational Church.

Farmers' market vendors will also be set up on Exchange St.

The Gorham Fire Department will have fire trucks on display for the kids at the station.

Ray Bergeron of Northeast Snowmobile and ATV Rentals will have airbrushed motorcycles out for exhibit.

There will also be a 50/50 raffle and ArtWalk Specials at local restaurants.

This year's Artwalk is sponsored by the Town of Gorham, the Androscoggin Valley Chamber of Commerce, WREN, the Arts Alliance of Northern New Hampshire and Northern Human Services.
