January 15, 2014BERLIN — ELC Rafting, which combines a floatplane ride with a whitewater rafting trip to create a unique adventure package, has just been named by New Hampshire Grand as the newest Certified Grand Adventure.
Based on the guidelines of this marketing collaboration, the area's 16 Grand Adventures highlight the region's best experiences. "We are thrilled to add ELC Rafting to our expanding list of Certified Grand Adventures," said Cathy Conway of NH Grand and a vice president of the Northern Community Investment Corp. in a prepared statement. "With the knowledge of the staff, excellent reputation, and guarantee for a great time, we are certain this will become a favorite of the Grand Adventures."
The "Get Your Feet Off the Ground" Rapid River package kicks off from Lake Umbagog in Errol where patrons who can enjoy beautiful panoramic views fly on a floatplane to the historic Lakewood Camps on the shores of Lower Richardson Lake in western Maine. From there, participants embark on a rafting journey that boasts Class II to IV rapids on the Rapid River on their way back to the Lake Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge.
"ELC Rafting is working hard with other outdoor adventure-based businesses and lodging properties to establish Coös County as a premiere tourism destination," said ELC founder Jim Cochran in prepared remarks. "We can only expect more success after being named as a Certified Grand Adventure."
