Presby to buy Isaacson Steel building

June 13, 2012
BERLIN – David Presby's entrepreneurial bandwagon continues to add parts of the defunct Isaacson Structural Steel (ISS). The Whitefield-based businessman plans to soon close on the Jericho Road headquarters of ISS. He previously purchased the ISS warehouse and its accompanying assets.

"It's an effort to keep the North Country alive," Presby said, it is particularly important for the region to have access to steel for new construction development.

His interest in acquiring these assets is based upon the need to preserve the region's job base. "We need to put people back to work," he said.

Presby said he's figuring out the details as to how his new acquisition will fit into his existing businesses and other opportunities. He is accessing the equipment that comes with the sale and will attend the liquidation auction of the remaining Isaacson assets. Initially he cautioned that his operation would not be as large as the former occupant.

The building includes 55,000 in manufacturing space, another nearly 20,000 in office and maintenance space.

This acquisition will not impact his Presby Environmental and Presby Transportation businesses at the Mount Washington Regional Airport in Whitefield. He did note that he's again planning a big open house festival in Whitefield on July 28 from 9-3. Last year it drew more than 3,000 people.
