ALTON — There is an opening on the Alton Board of Selectmen and it became available one week to the day after the voters went to the polls on Tuesday, March 11.

Bob Daniels, who was elected to the board in March of 2013, resigned via e-mail on the morning of Tuesday, March 18.

Daniels wrote in an e-mail that was sent to Russ Bailey, the Town Administrator:

"This is a confirmation that I have decided not to continue as an Alton Selectman. Please remove my name from the Town of Alton payroll as of March 18, 2014."

Anyone interested in filling the position left by Daniels' resignation can fill out paperwork at the Alton Town Hall indicating that they would like to fill the seat until March of 2015. A letter of interest can also be mailed to the Alton Town Hall or an e-mail can be sent to Mary Jarvis at Mary@Alton.NH.Gov or by e-mailing Bailey at Administrator@Alton.NH.Gov.

The deadline for showing interest in filling the seat is April 11. At that point, the current four members on the board will make a decision on who will fill the seat.

In March of 2015, there will be one seat on the board for one-year, serving out the remainder of Daniels' term, and there will be a three-year position on the board, as Marc DeCoff's term expires.
