Numerous races for Barnstead seats

REGION — The filing period for candidates to declare that they are running for town and school positions ended this past Friday. In Alton and New Durham the only contested race is for selectmen, but there are several contested races in Barnstead, including the road agent's contest, where the former road agent is running with hopes of being elected again.

Barnstead

Andrew Houle, Priscilla Tiede and Francis Vardaro are running for two seats on the board of selectmen. Chris Carazzo and James Doucette are running for the three-year position of Road Agent.

Elaine Swinford is running unopposed for the one-year position of Overseer of Public Welfare.

On the planning board, Dane Frenette and Bruce Grey are running for one two-year spot and Karen Schacht, Katherine Preston and Huguette Massee-Belanger are running for the two three-year positions.

On the budget committee, Danielle Krause is running for the two-year position and William Haynes and Alan Glassman are running unopposed for the pair of three-year positions. Judith Forsyth is running for the six-year position as the Supervisor of the Checklist and Karen Montgomery is running for the three-year position as Trustee of Trust Funds.

For library trustee, Heather Carter is running for the one-year term and Suzanne Allison is running for the three-year position.

Vernon "Chris" Hipkiss is running for the two-year position of town moderator.

On the school side, there are no contested races. Lynette Rose is running for the one-year term of School District Clerk, Maureen Fitzpatrick is running for the three-year position on the School Board and Hipkiss is running for the one-year term as the school moderator. There is nobody on the ballot for the other school board seat for three years.

Alton

The only contested race is the pair of three-year positions on the board of selectmen, with Phil Wittmann and Lou LaCourse running against incumbent Cydney Johnson.

No one filed for the six-year position as Supervisor of the Checklist and the same goes for the single three-year position on the budget committee that is up for grabs.

The other uncontested races include: David St. Cyr for Trustee of Trust Funds, Mark Northridge as the town moderator, a two-year position, Germaine Glidden, who filed for the three-year position as a cemetery trustee, Paul White for the three-year position as water commissioner, Roger Sample and Bill Curtin for the pair of open three-year spots on the planning board and Paul Monzione and Paul LaRochelle, who are running for the two open three-year positions on the Zoning Board of Adjustment.

On the school side in Alton, there are no contested races. Robin Lane is running for the one-year position as school moderator, Linda Roy is running for the one-year position as school clerk, Sandy Wyatt is running for the three-year position on the school board and Shirley Lane is running for the three-year position as school treasurer

New Durham

The only contested race is for the single seat on the New Durham Board of Selectmen, with David Bickford, Robert Kroepel and Rudolph Rosiello running.

Cecile Chase is running for the two-year position as the town moderator. Polius "Paul" Raslvicus and Robert Craycraft are running the three-year positions on the planning board.

Anneleen Loughlin is running for the six-year position as supervisor of the checklist, Denis Martin is running for the three-year position as a cemetery trustee, John Michaud and William Meyer are running for the pair of three-year positions as library trustee and Angela Pruitt is running for the three-year position as Trustee of Trust Funds.
