November 14, 2012 REGION — The tax rates in Alton, Barnstead and New Durham have gone up for 2012.
The rate in Alton is $13.68 per thousand, the rate in Barnstead is $23.56 per thousand and the rate in New Durham is $22.96 per thousand.
The breakdown for Alton's tax rate (per thousand) is as follows: $3.68 for the town rate, $6.02 for the local school rate, $2.55 for the state school rate and $1.43 for the county rate. The rate in Alton last year was $13.07 per thousand and the increase represents a 4.6 percent increase.
The breakdown for Barnstead's tax rate (per thousand) is as follows: $5.50 for the town rate, $14.10 for the local school rate, $2.47 for the state school rate and $1.49 for the county rate. The rate in Barnstead last year was $23.43 per thousand, and the $.13 increase represents a .5 percent increase.
The breakdown for New Durham's tax rate (per thousand) is as follows: $6.85 for the town rate, $10.85 for the local school rate, $2.39 for the state school rate and $2.77 for the county rate. The rate in Alton last year was $22.96 per thousand and the $.56 per thousand increase represents a 2.5 percent increase.
