Locals run with the best at Meet of Champions

NASHUA — Five local athletes took to the course at Nashua South High School on Saturday for the annual Meet of Champions.

The meet combines the top 23 runners and five teams in Division III, the top 25 runners and six teams in Division II and the top 28 runners and eight teams in Division I in one large race.

On the girls' side, two local athletes made the trip, with Newfound's Andrea Shinn making her second appearance in a row in the Meet of Champions. The Bear junior finished 116th overall in a time of 21:39.

Prospect Mountain sophomore Ali Rogers made her Meet of Champions debut and finished 135th overall in a time of 22:50.

Alexa Pelletier of Winnacunnet of Hampton was the overall winner with a time of 18:15, followed by Elizabeth Conway of Manchester Central in 18:32 and Shannon Murdock of Exeter in 18:39. Coe-Brown Northwood Academy won the overall girls' title, followed by Londonderry and Bedford.

On the boys' side, there were three local runners taking part in the action.

Prospect Mountain junior Drew Tuttle was the top local runner, finishing in 60th place overall in a time of 17:00.

Kennett freshman Nick Brown was 73rd overall and was the second freshman overall, finishing in a time of 17:10.

Prospect Mountain junior Mike Fife came home in a time of 17:46 to take 109th place overall on the day.

Jeremy Brassard of Coe-Brown Northwood Academy was the overall winner in 15:46, followed closely by Sam Daly of Bedford in 15:49. Andrew Weckstein of Bow finished third in 15:54.

Souhegan of Amherst was the overall team winner, followed by Bedford and Oyster River of Durham.
