Plenty of choices on Tuesday


Voters going to the polls for primary

REGIONAL — The state primary will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 11, with Alton having its polls open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Prospect Mountain High School, Barnstead having its polls open at the same times at the Barnstead Town Hall and New Durham having its polls open from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the New Durham Elementary School.

In all three towns, Jackie Cilley, Bill Kennedy and Maggie Hassan are running for Governor on the Democratic side, and Ovide Lamontagne, Kevin Smith and Robert Tarr are running on the Republican side. Incumbent Frank Guinta, Rick Parent and Vern Clough are running for Representative for Congress on the Republican side and Carol-Shea Porter is running unopposed on the Democratic side. Additionally, Dick Green and Sam Cataldo are battling for the position of State Senator on the Republican side, and Richard Leonard is running unopposed on the Democratic side.

In Alton and Barnstead, Roberta Smith is running for State Representative in Belknap District 8 as a Democrat and Jane Cormier and Peter Bolster are running as Republicans, Craig Wiggin is running unopposed for sheriff on the Republican side, with no one running on the Democratic side, Melissa Countway Guldbrandsen is running unopposed for County Attorney on the Republican side, Michael Muzzey is running for County Treasurer on the Republican side, Barbara Luther is running for Register of Deeds on the Republican side and Kerstin Ahlgren is running for the same position on the Democratic side and Esther Shartar-Howe, Democrat, and Karen Brickner, Republican, are running for the position of Register of Probate.

Additionally in Alton: Jean Henry and Deborah Chase are running for State Representative Belknap District 5 on the Democratic side and Stephen Holmes and Richard Burchell are running on the Republican side, Stephen Nedeau, Republican, is running for County Commissioner and Walt Havenstein, Carlos Martinez, and Jeffrey St. Cyr are running for Delegates to the State Convention on the Republican side.

Additionally in Barnstead: Bruce Marriott is running for State Representative District 7 on the Democratic side and Elaine Swinford and Guy Comtois are running on the Republican side, Michael Tierney, Republican, is running for Executive Councilor, and John Shea, Colin Van Ostern and Shawn Micelonis are running on the Democratic side and Don Walker, Alan Glassman, Robert LaRoche and Elaine Swinford are running for Delegate to the State Convention.

Additionally in Alton and New Durham, Beth Funicella, Democrat, and Jerry Thibodeau and Raymond Burton, Republicans, are running for Executive Councilor.

In New Durham: Bob Perry and Joe Cicerelli are running for State Representative on the Democratic side and David Bickford, Robert Kroepel and Kurt Wuelper are running on the Republican side, Joseph DiGregorio, Republican, and David Dubois, Democrat, are running for sheriff, Thomas Velardi, Democrat, is running for County Attorney, Pamela Arnold, Democrat, is running for County Treasurer, Dennis Vachon and Dale Sprague, Democrats, are running against Lynn Williams, Republican, for Register of Deeds, Mac Kittredge, Diane Wood and Catherine Cheney are running County Commissioners on the Republican side and George Maglaras, Robert Watson, Paul Dumont and Leo Lessard are running on the Democratic side.
