Late offensive burst sends Spartans past Mountaineers

BERLIN — On April 25, the White Mountains softball girls headed next door to Berlin where they knew they would have more competition then the team has had all season. Before the match up the Mountaineers were 4-1, and the Spartans were 4-0. Leadoff batter Kaitlyn Nelson struck out during her first show down with Berlin pitcher Jen Landers. Amaya Dodier had the same fate as Nelson with another strikeout. Sam Newell reached first base on a single, but her time was short lived after Tristen Enderson was thrown out at first. Katlyn Coulter struck out Berlin's first batter in the bottom half. Megan Accardi singled to get on base, then Landers struck out for out number two. The final out came when Emily Picard whacked the ball right into the glove of Spartan second baseman Dodier. ...more>
